I will not be assigning you any new activities on Fridays. Instead, please use this day to complete any incomplete assignments. You may want to go back and look at your posts on SeeSaw and read the comments from me. 😊 If you’re still looking for ideas on how to spend your Friday, I would love love love to hear from you! Write me a letter or post me a message on SeeSaw telling me how your week went. Tell me what types of assignments you enjoyed and which assignments were tricky for you this week. Digital Learning for Thursday, April 30th:
Office hours for Mrs. Cook will be 9:00 – 10:30 this morning. Math (30 minutes): Visit Moby Max and work on multiplication Fact Fluency. This should take about 10 minutes. Then complete the activity “Multiplication Fact Practice” in SeeSaw. Your goal for the end of the year should be to complete 100 multiplication facts in 7 minutes. Today, I want you to time yourself and see how long it takes you to complete all 100! Limited Tech Option: If it's easier for you to print the page and complete it with a pencil and paper, CLICK HERE for the paper copy. Just don't forget to time yourself and post it to SeeSaw. Reading (30 minutes): Complete the “Cause and Effect” activity in SeeSaw. Read independently for the remainder of reading. Remember, you should be reading every day for at least 20 minutes. The more the better! Writing (if needed): When you have completed revising your fairy tale adaptation, I would like for you to record yourself reading your story aloud on FlipGrid. Reading and Social Studies (40 minutes): For today’s assignment, you will go to Clever and click on Georgia Studies Weekly. CLICK HERE for detailed instructions on how to do this. When you get into Studies Weekly, you will select Week 12 and read the first article “Colonial Education for Boys and Girls ” After reading the article, complete the “Compare and Contrast Colonial Life” activity in SeeSaw. Read independently for the remainder of reading. Remember, you should be reading every day for at least 20 minutes. The more the better! Writing (20 minutes): After reading the two assigned articles from your Studies Weekly, complete the activity “Dear Journal – Colonial Life” in SeeSaw. When you have completed revising your fairy tale adaptation, I would like for you to record yourself reading your story aloud on FlipGrid. When you get into Studies Weekly, you will select Week 12 and read the first article “Where Should We Live?” After reading the article, complete the “Cause and Effect Historical Text” activity in SeeSaw. Math (30 minutes): We are finishing up our unit on Polygons and now is time to apply you’ve been learning these past few weeks in a fun and artistic way! Today you will complete the “Polygon STEAM Challenge” activity in SeeSaw. Be creative! Use chalk, paint, food, things from nature, or whatever medium you choose! You will have until Friday to complete this assignment. Reading (30 minutes): Today you will be logging into StoryWorks Jr. to read a very interesting article about American Wolves. For this, you will need the class code to login. Check your inbox in SeeSaw for our class code. Then complete the SeeSaw activity called “Cause/Effect – Saving America’s Wolves.” Read independently for the remainder of reading. Remember, you should be reading every day for at least 20 minutes. The more the better! Optional Fun: We are going to begin a new chapter book today, Frindle by Andrew Clements. Find the video on your SeeSaw inbox. Writing (20 minutes): You guys have worked so hard on your Fairy Tale Adaptations. Some of you may be ready to share yours. When you have completed revising your story, I would like for you to record yourself reading your story aloud on FlipGrid. Work on it a little each day. 😊 Reading (40 minutes): Complete the “3rd Grade Cause and Effect Extension” activity in SeeSaw. Complete the “Fluency Quick Check” activity in SeeSaw. Read independently for the remainder of reading. Remember, you should be reading every day for at least 20 minutes. The more the better! Writing (20 minutes): Read your fairy tale adaptation to someone in your house. Ask them to give you one compliment and one suggestion to make it the best that it can be. Limited Tech Option: MyMath Workbook Volume 2 p.853-854, questions #2-10. Extension Option: CLICK HERE for your Quadrilaterals Math Choice Board. I would like for you to complete at least two of these this week. Work on it a little each day. 😊 Reading (30 minutes): We will revisit cause and effect this quarter and we’ll think about how it can relate to history and science too. Complete the “Cause and Effect Room Recess Game” activity in SeeSaw today to practice this skill. Read independently for the remainder of reading. Remember, you should be reading every day for at least 20 minutes. The more the better! Writing (if needed): If you still need to work on revising your fairy tale adaptation, please work on this today. Science (20 minutes): Today is Earth Day! I have posted two interesting Earth-Day-Themed activities on SeeSaw. One is called “Jane Goodall” and the other is called “Recycling Center Virtual Field Trip”. Find this video in SeeSaw. (It is in two parts). Extension Option: CLICK HERE for your Quadrilaterals Math Choice Board. I would like for you to complete at least two of these this week. Work on it a little each day. 😊 Reading (30 minutes): We have finished The Great Mouse Detective – Basil of Baker Street. I would like for you to take a Reading Counts quiz on this book. Please note that the title of the book in Reading Counts is “Basil of Baker Street”. If you don’t type this in as the title, the book will not pop up. To login to Reading Counts, please click on the Reading Links tab at the top of my blog page. You'll find the link there. I've also added a link on my Clever page. Limited Tech Option: Write a one-page summary about the story. Post your summary to SeeSaw. Read independently for the remainder of reading. Remember, you should be reading every day for at least 20 minutes. The more the better! Writing (30 minutes): You have been working so hard on your Fairy Tale adaptations. This week, I would like for you to read over your story from beginning to end and make any corrections or revisions that are needed. You may even want to add illustrations to your fairy tale and create your own book with some pieces of paper stapled together. Post your revisions to SeeSaw so that I can give you some feedback. Social Studies (30 minutes): Today we are going to begin our next Social Studies unit on Colonial Americans. For today’s assignment, you will go to Clever and click on Georgia Studies Weekly. CLICK HERE for detailed instructions on how to do this. When you get into Studies Weekly, you will select Week 13 and read the first article “The Mystery of the Lost Colony of Roanoke.” After reading the article, answer the quiz questions at the bottom of the page. Office hours for Mrs. Cook will be 8:00 – 9:30 this morning. Math (30 minutes): You will need to login to BrainPop Jr. today. I have created my own Clever page to make logging to lots of resources even easier. CLICK HERE to follow the instructions and login to my Clever page. Visit BrainPOP Jr. complete the “Quadrilaterals” assignment in your Dashboard. Then CLICK HERE to complete this Quadrilaterals coloring activity. After coloring your robot, post a picture of it to SeeSaw. (If you are unable to print this assignment at home, please choose the Limited Tech option). Limited Tech Option: Read about Quadrilaterals and complete the activities on p.851-852 MyMath Workbook (Vol. 2). Reading (30 minutes): Today is the day! We are going to finish The Great Mouse Detective – Basil of Baker Street! Settle in and get ready for the thrilling conclusion! Check your inbox in SeeSaw for the videos. It’s in two parts today. Afterwards, login to Class Notebook and answer the “Final Questions.” Limited Tech Option: Copy and answer these questions in your journal.
