It's hard to believe that we just wrapped up the last school day of the decade! The week was filled with merriment from our holiday party to the Holiday Sing and all the fun in between. I hope you've had a chance to see some of your child's fabulous work on SeeSaw. We finished up a lot of projects this week.
We will continue with our #BestYearYet in January. In the meantime, I hope you have the #BestHolidayYet! I look forward to seeing these sweet kiddos on January 6, 2020!

We wrapped up our unit on Fossils and the students have each chosen their own way to demonstrate what they have learned. Be on the look out for their final products posted on SeeSaw.

IOWA scores have arrived. Please be sure to check your child's purple folder for their scores today. Included is a parent guide that can help answer any questions you may have. I am always available if you have any questions or concerns about these scores. It's that time of year when the buzz begins about possible snow on the horizon. Many of us remember that wild winter we had a few years back when the snow came much sooner than expected! At the beginning of the year, you indicated on your registration forms how you would like for your child to be dismissed in the event of an unexpected school closure. Just in case your plan has changed (or if you don't recall what you put down back in August) I created a quick little survey. Please click on the link and indicate your child's dismissal plan. We will be visiting Pope High School on Thursday to see the one act play Alice in Wonderland. We will be leaving school around 9:15 and will return by 11:30. Please make sure your child wears their orange Tritt STEAM shirt or any Tritt shirt for our field trip. We will be back in time for lunch, so no sack lunches will be needed. I can't wait to see all the talent from many Tritt alum! During our reading conferences, I have noticed that many students are not finishing the books they read in class. Today I explained to students that, going forward, they will be expected to take their independent reading books to and from school to read in class and for homework. Students should always have 20 minutes of reading for homework each night. If you have a special book that you read together at home, you should absolutely keep this sweet tradition. However, students should still be reading their own book independently at home. Your child may need your help remembering to bring this book to school each day. Thank you for your encouragement with this! Here is a look at what we will be learning next week: Reading: Cause and Effect/Sequencing Writing: Revising and Publishing Informational Writing Math: Scaled Bar Graphs and Pictographs Science: Fossils Grammar: Affixes and Root Words Vocabulary: smudge, disgruntled, witty, imitate, extravagant And finally, here are some upcoming dates to remember: 12/12 - Field Trip to Pope 12/17 - Class Holiday Party 12/19 - Early Release 12/20 - Holiday Sing/Pajama Day/Early Release |
