These kiddos have done it! After all of the thinking about and talking about Georgia Milestones, the test is now in our rear view. They crossed the finish line and finished strong. I am so proud of them for their hard work and positive attitudes during testing. Make-Up testing will still be going on next week as well as 4th grade testing which begins on Monday.
Arts in Education Day was today and it has been a fantastic end to our week. From Irish Dancers to the Atlanta Braves' own organist, Matthew Kaminski, the kids have really enjoyed from today's presenters. I hope that you had the chance to check out the Art Show last night as well. Tritt is full of so much talent and artistic ability! Next week we will finally return to our normal routines now that testing for 3rd grade is complete. We will be learning about non-fiction text features as we study the early American colonists in a reading/social studies cross-over. In math, we will review quarter 4 standards such as elapsed time, equivalent fractions and multiplication/division facts. We will have another timed multiplication test next week on Friday. Please encourage your child to practice their 6s, 7s, 8s, and 9s facts in order to prepare. Invention Convention projects are due next Monday. The students will be presenting these throughout next week and then we will choose one invention to represent our class in the Invention Convention in May. I cannot wait to see what problems they solve with their inventions! Camp Learned-A-Lot will be coming up on the last full week of the year (May 13th - 17th). Please be sure to check your email for some important information I sent out about it earlier this week. See below for more upcoming events: 4/29 = Invention Convention projects are due 5/3 = Walk to School Day 5/3 = Food Truck Friday and Rally Kickball Game 5/8 = West Rock Recycling field trip 5/10 = Field Day

What a week it has been! We finished up Reading and Writing Milestones. I know the students are a little relieved just knowing what to expect with testing on the computer. Each day, they seem a little more comfortable with the testing day routine. We still have Math left. We will take the Math Milestones on Wednesday and Thursday of next week. We are working hard right now on not only calculating answers, but being able to explain our thinking as well. Being able to explain how they arrived at an answer is so important for the Milestone and for life in general!
Arts in Education Day is coming up next Friday. I am so excited for my first Arts in Ed. day, as I have been told that it is such a great day. Don't forget about the Art Show next Thursday afternoon as well. You'll be able to view art from all students at Tritt and purchase a framed piece made by your own little artist. We hope to see you there Thursday from 4:00 - 7:00! Today was our last official STEAM Day of the school year. We have been working on our year-long project of promoting better recycling habits at Tritt. The students have created their very own Public Service Announcements We have been working so hard this week. We've trained, we've prepped, we've reviewed, and we are READY for the Georgia Milestones. Bring it on! Testing begins on Tuesday of next week. The schedule is as follows:
Tuesday: English Language Arts - Writing Wednesday: Reading Section 1 Thursday: Reading Section 2 I will not be sending home any assignments for homework and I have blocked out these next few weeks on the reading log, so the students will only have a few very important tasks to complete: - Get a good night's sleep. - Eat a nutritious breakfast. - Arrive before 7:40 to get mentally prepared Please remind your child to leave any and all beeping watches, cell phones or other smart watches at home on testing days. These items are not allowed during testing and can be a big distraction in the testing setting. If your child must have a device for a particular reason and you are concerned, please email me and we can figure something out. :) Here are a few reminders about what's coming up: Tues - Thurs = ELA Milestones Friday = STEAM Day 4/24 - 4/25 = Math Milestones 4/26 = Arts in Ed Day 4/29 = Invention Convention projects are due |
