It's been an eventful week in Room 104 (Our Classroom)! We started the week meeting an actor and Tritt alum, Miles Truitt. Miles spoke to the 3rd grade students about how reading and perseverance are essential to succeeding as an actor. On Tuesday, we visited the ILC for orientation. We are officially ready to check out library books!
The students have been having fun learning to round and practicing their fact fluency skills as we prepare for our next big unit in math - Addition and Subtraction strategies. We received some fun, new flexible seating options for our classroom and the kids are loving their reading spots as we work on building our independent reading stamina. We are digging deep into Rocks and Minerals in science this week. The students have really enjoyed finding different rocks around the school and trying to identify them. Some of our favorites are mica and quartz. Next Friday, I will be inviting the students to bring in their rocks and minerals collections (if they have one). These can be gems they've panned for or favorite rocks from their backyard. This is completely optional, but it will be fun to see what everyone shares. Picture Day is coming up this Thursday. Our scheduled time is at 11:12 (thankfully, before recess and lunch). Everyone bring their brightest smiles. :) Click here to sign up for Remind texts. You can also text @laurencoo to the number 81010. I will be sending out some fun pictures from a game we played in math today. It's great for practicing mental math and addition fluency. Ask your child to show you how to play. You'll need one dice, a piece of paper, and something to write with.
