We have been easing back into routines this week. I am still getting used to writing 2020 on the date. It's hard to believe the year is already halfway over! We have hit the ground running with some great things already this month!
We started our next novel study on the book Mr. Popper's Penguins. This kids are really enjoying Mr. Popper and Captain Cook and all of their antics! This book has some great vocabulary in it too, which we are always trying to build on. In your child's purple folder today, you will find instructions for our next at-home project. Your child will create their own penguin from recyclable materials. We just love seeing the creativity of the students on this one! Our penguins will even be displayed in the LLC for the month of February! The due date for this project is January 31st. Be sure to read the purple handout for more information about the project requirements. We also had a visit from the Recycling Team at SunTrust Park today. The kids rotated through 4 awesome sessions where they learned all about all of the work that goes into reducing waste at the ballpark. They are now official Green Path Team members too! :) Here is a look at what is coming up next week: Reading: Making Inferences Writing: Opinion Writing Math: Comparing and Equivalent Fractions Grammar: Comparative and Superlative Adjectives Science: Animal Adaptations Vocabulary: partial, conceal, quarrel, blunt, elaborate Upcoming Events: January 21st - Martine Luther King Jr. holiday - No School January 31st - Tritt Talent Show @ Pope Auditorium
