What an eventful week it has been. We concluded out Tritt-Mazing Race Fund Raiser yesterday. The kids are so proud of all of the funds they raised. The Grand Finale will be on Monday when we participate in the Tritt-Mazing Race! Our team name is the Cook's Cobras. Students will need to wear them STEAM t-shirts and get ready to attack the obstacle course like a cobra on Monday!
We are really looking forward to our picnic reward on Thursday, November 1st. This will begin at our lunch time. Students will need to bring a beach towel from home so that we can sit outside and eat in the field with our 3rd grade friends. Speaking of Thursday, we will be having a full day of STEAM learning with our next engineering challenge. This is going to be such a fun day! We have been studying the properties of multiplication this week and we will continue this next week by taking a look at the distributive property. These sound like big middle school concepts, but the most important take-away from the distributive property is that we can break apart big numbers into two smaller equations to make multiplication easier. For example 2 x 12 can be broken down into 2 x 10 and 2 x 2 which is much simpler to solve mentally. If your child is ever stuck on their homework, please remind them to see me as early as 7:20 in the morning. We can work it out together. In reading, we have been presenting our Mystery Book Reports. These were due today and we've already had so many great presentations. Anyone who did not present today will present next week. If you are registered with our class in See Saw, I can even send you a photo of your child giving their book report. I hope to see many of you out on the field this Monday to cheer on our class in the Tritt-Mazing Race. Our start time is 11:30. See you there!
